 Summary
Fresh out of law school, and with a passion for justice, Sean Casey has just been hired as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City.
When his father, a NYC policeman, is almost killed in a drug-bust gone bad, the ambitious District Attorney sees an opportunity to make headlines that will get him re-elected, and he assigns Sean to prosecute the criminal when the time comes.
What begins as an open and shut case leads Sean into a web of corruption within the system in which he believes so fiercely, testing the close father-son bond and Sean's idealistic view of justice.
 Peggy Lindström – Lena Olin
Lena plays Peggy Lindström, one of twelve assistants to sensational defense attorney, Sam Vigoda.
Having watched Sean during the trial, and impressed by what she knew was a career in the making, she invites him back to her place to celebrate his victory.
She quickly realizes that this is no ordinary one-night stand, and stands beside him as he is plunged into the investigation and thrust into stardom, when the District Attorney suffers a near-fatal heart attack on the eve of announcing his bid for re-election and the party nominates Sean to run in his place.
When a case-breaking piece of evidence comes to light that could mean the freedom of her client, she must choose between following the law and her heart.

 Memorable Quotes
Peggy: (cleaning his tie) "I never knew I'd be helping the prosecution."
Sean: "Where are we going?"
Peggy: "Home."
Sean: "I live in Queens."
Peggy: "I don't."
Peggy: "I knew I was watching the start of a great career. I knew that at the least I wanted to get you into bed."
Sean: "How come you didn't wait to be asked?"
Peggy: "I hate that coy bullshit."
Peggy: "I understand. When you're the DA, we might wind up on opposite sides a lot. We'll have lots of secrets from each other."
Sean: "I hate that."
Peggy: "So, what do you suggest?"
Sean: "I suggest we tell each other everything. We'll leave it up to the other person to decide for themselves whether to use it."
Peggy: "God, you like to make things difficult. Why not just keep quiet?"
Sean: (smiling) "That's also an option."
Peggy: "I guess that's my flaw... expecting Lancelot."
Sean: "You haven't picked wrong with me, Peggy."
Peggy: "I know, and it frightens me even more. What if you're everything I hoped for..."
Sean: "What? And what?"
Peggy: "And it turns out I'm not good enough for you? If I'm not, I don't want to know that about myself."
Peggy: "I work for him. I'm in love with you."
